KOTA KINABALU: The opposition appears to be deliberately using smear tactics to tarnish the image of Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor regarding the land transaction issue involving the state government and a businessman from Sarawak.

These underhanded tactics showcase the opposition’s desperation to besmirch the reputation of the Chief Minister of Sabah.

Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah information chief Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan stated that allegations of an abuse of power concerning the land transaction that went viral on Facebook are filled with fabricated facts.

“Upon review with the Sabah Lands and Surveys Department, all land applications have been processed according to existing procedures and laws. Moreover, no land titles were issued for the four mentioned land applications.

The viral allegations on Facebook also claim that the involved businessman appears to have close ties with Hajiji, hence raising suspicions.

“However, it should be noted that the said businessman was also seen to be close to the former Chief Minister from the Warisan Party, Datuk Seri Mohd. Shafie Apdal,” he said in a statement today.

Nizam commented that there is something amiss with such a mentality. Given that the opposition cannot touch on the state government’s success in attracting high-impact investors to Sabah, they attempt to use smear tactics to damage the Chief Minister’s image.

Therefore, a police report will be filed against the said Facebook page so that an investigation can be carried out to bring those responsible for spreading falsehoods to court.
