KOTA KINABALU: A vital message which claimed that the government would enforce new communication rules that would result in calls being recorded is fake.
A Bernama report this week quoted SEBENARNYA.MY as saying through its website that checks with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) found that the viral message was not true.
It added that the message was found to have gone viral in 2017 in several nations such as Ghana, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), India and Singapore.
Among the messages that went viral were that all calls would be recorded while social media platforms such as Whatsapp, Twitter and Facebook would be monitored.
The public had been advised to exercise caution when receiving such messages.
