KOTA KINABALU: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) president, Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, dismisses Parti Warisan’s effort to position him as a more effective leader for Sabah as a calculated strategy to foment disunity within Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

In response to this ‘proposal’, Jeffrey insists on his unyielding loyalty and accuses Warisan of attempting to discredit the incumbent government by orchestrating a rivalry between him and Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) president, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor.

“Warisan’s desperate maneuverings are evident,” he said.

“Devoid of substantive criticisms of the government, they have resorted to petty politicking, trying to pit allies against one another.”

“They assumed this strategy would incite internal discord within GRS by fostering a debate over who is more qualified to be the Chief Minister,” he added.

Expressing his unwavering support for Hajiji, Jeffrey categorically rejects any suggestions that he covets the Chief Minister’s role.

“My stance behind Hajiji as our Chief Minister is unequivocal. The notion that I am interested in his position does not arise,” he clarified.

Jeffrey further censures Warisan ‘cybertroopers’ for their focus on stirring up internal disputes rather than engaging in policy discussions or constructive criticism.

“Sabah needs a cohesive government committed to public welfare, not one derailed by baseless allegations and internal strife. Our primary responsibility is to serve the people, not to indulge in these needless squabbles that Warisan seems keen on instigating,” he asserted.

With these latest statements from the Deputy Chief Minister, it is evident that Warisan’s attempt to sow discord within the GRS coalition has been ineffective.

Jeffrey’s steadfast position and unwavering support for Hajiji Noor send a potent message to those aiming to destabilise the state’s leadership: their divisive strategies will not find fertile ground in GRS.
