KOTA KINABALU: Former Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) Deputy President Datuk Juil Nuatim has been accepted as a direct member of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
The Limbahau Assemblyman submitted his application to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor in the presence of Star President Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Jeffrey Kitingan and PBS Deputy President Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Joachim Gunsalam.
Juil has announced his departure from KDM on May 2, saying that he just wanted to bring development to his constituency.
Juil won the Limbahau seat in the 2020 State Election on Warisan ticket but later left to form the Parti KDM with former Warisan vice president Datuk Peter Anthony in February last year.
PKDM had repeatedly expressed its intention to join GRS but the coalition has yet to accept their application.
PKDM is however in support of the GRS-led state government and the federal unity government led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
