KOTA KINABALU: Sabah announced the third edition of the Bantuan Sabah Prihatin (BSP 3.0) totaling RM154,835,981 for a one-off RM300 cash payment and food baskets aid to assist people affected by the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) 3.0 that started on June 1.
The one-off payment totalled RM120,469,481 while food baskets aid totalled RM34,366,500.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor said the one-off RM300 payment will benefit 370,432 recipients while the fruit baskets will benefit 343,665 recipients.
He said BSP 3.0 is in addition to the RM238,369,318 million distributed through BSP 1.0 and BSP 2.0 since end of last year.
“The State Cabinet has on June 9, 2021 approved BSP 3.0 to complement various assistance by the Federal Government for the people recently including the RM2.1 billion Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat and the RM1.5 billion Geran Khas Prihatin to SMEs.
“BSP 3.0 will add to the total of RM358,838,800 million inclusive of BSP1.0 and BSP 2.0 which has been dispensed to the people whose income have been affected due to the pandemic. I hope the BSP 3.0 will help to lessen their burden,” he said after attending a briefing on Security Management during MCO at the Police HQ, Sabah Contingent here today.
Hajiji who is also Finance Minister said the special assistance that will be distributed soon included the RM300 one-off cash payment, management of the people’s housing programme (PPR) and aids for private and public university students.
He said the assistance would be distributed to the target groups through eight ministries apart from the Special Tasks Office and Kota Kinabalu City Hall.
“The recipients among others include those in the e-Kasih list, hardcore poor, orphans, senior citizens, single mothers, farmers, people with special needs (OKU), tour guides, taxi drivers, petty traders, micro and cottage entrepreneurs,” he said.
Under the BSP 3.0, the Rural Development Ministry has been allocated RM45,612,200 million as payment of the one-off RM300 cash assistance to 153,914 recipients in the poor, hardcore poor and e-Kasih categories.
The Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry would receive RM2,879,500 million to be distributed to tour guides, art practitioners, dive masters, mountain guides, porters, hotel and lodging operators as well as tour operators and
Homestay Association involving 3,325 recipients.
Meanwhile, for hotels and lodgings – four and five-star hotels will each receive RM5,000, while hotels with three-star and below rating will each receive RM2,000, lodgings with three, two and one-orchid ratings (RM2,000); Homestay Association (RM1,000), hotels that have not been rated (RM1,000) and tour operators
(RM2,000).
A total of 64,449 recipients from the target groups under the Social Welfare Service Department, Women’s Affairs Department and the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) would be receiving a total RM19.334.700 million, which is being handled by the Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Ministry.
For the Social Welfare Service Department, it will involved the general assistance scheme as well as assistance for orphans, senior citizens, people with special needs (OKU) and children while the Women’s Affairs Department is handling assistance for single mothers, and the Malaysia Armed Forces are handling assistance for ex-servicemen.
The Industrial Development Ministry has been allocated RM2,880,000 million to assist 9,600 recipients under the micro and cottage entrepreneurs category.
For the Local Government and Housing Ministry, a sum of RM15,120,765 million was allocated as one-off assistance to 16,153 petty traders and management of the PPR and a three-month rental exemption.
Works Ministry will be allocated RM1,156,500 million for distribution to 3,855 recipients involving bus, lorry, taxis drivers, driving institutions and boat operators as well as new applicants.
Some 99,902 fishermen, farmers, oil palm smallholders (MPOB), cocoa smallholders and smallholders under the Sabah Rubber Industry Board (LIGS), Sabah Land Development Board’s breeders and smallholders would also be receiving one-off assistance totaling RM29,970,600 million from the Agriculture
and Fishery Ministry.
The Sports and Youth Ministry has been allocated RM500,000 to help 15,000 recipients under the Sabah Youth Council Prihatin Dapur Belia 4.0 assistance, while the Special Task Office would be allocated with RM1.5 million as assistance for students studying at public and private universities.
A sum of RM1,515,216 million was allocated to Kota Kinabalu City Hall to help 4,234 petty traders, management of PPR including exemption of three months rental for PPR Taman Keramat, Putatan (432 units) dan Taman Kurnia Jaya, Likas (46 units).-BorneoGazette
