KOTA KINABALU, Dec 29 — The Federal Government has approved the Monsoon Season Aid (BMT) of more than RM37 million to 61,762 rubber smallholders in the state affected by the rainy weather, said Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan (pic).
Jeffrey, who is also the Agriculture and Fisheries Minister said, each smallholder would receive RM600 and the payment process began on Dec 23.

“The Sabah Rubber Industry Board (LIGS) is currently processing the payments by electronic funds transfer,” he said in a statement issued today.
He said the year end rainy season affected rubber tapping activities which in turn affected smallholders’ source of income, besides global rubber commodity prices are still low.
He said smallholders can check their eligibility on the LIGS portal via the e-BMT2020 link at www.ligs.gov.my.
