“On behalf of the people of Kiulu I would like to convey gratitude to the Chief Minister for making good of his promise to give priority to the setting-up of the Kiulu sub-district office,” he said.

During his campaign trail in the last State Election here, Hajiji, in response to Bangkuai’s request, promised that the Kiulu sub-district office would be made a priority if Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) form the State government.

“Now, the office will soon be operational at its temporary premises, which is the annex room of the Kiulu Community Hall,” he said after inspecting the setting-up of the temporary office.

Joniston was accompanied by Tuaran Assistant District Officer Felicia Sindan who briefed him on the preparation works for the temporary office.

Joniston hope that construction of the permanent Kiulu Sub-District office could begin by early next year.

It would be a real convenience for the people here as they no longer have to travel all the way to Tuaran to deal in matters regarding land or welfare, he said.

Apart from that, it would make it easier for development planning
particularly in the tourism and agriculture sectors, which is the forte of Kiulu.

The approval to elavate Kiulu to a sub-district was announced by then Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman during his visit here just before the 2018 general election, but it was delayed when there was a change in government.

“During the two years in the opposition, I have been asking without fail about the status of the Kiulu sub-district office in every State Assembly sitting,” said Bangkuai.-BorneoGazette
