KIULU: Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin has given assurance that the illegal immigrants (PTI) problem in Sabah will be resolved with assistance from GRS partners and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS).
He disclosed that the PBS leadership have met with him urging the Federal Government to resolve the PTI issue once and for all.

“Datuk Joniston (Bangkuai) together with PBS president Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili (and other party leaders) did came to see me asking if there is a solution to Sabah’s PTI problem.
“I said as the Home Minister I will make sure that the illegal immigrants will no longer be an issue in Sabah and this will be done with the assistance from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) partners that is PN, BN and PBS,” he said.
Speaking at the meet-the-people session with Kiulu PBS candidate Datuk Joniston Bangkuai at his election operation centre last Saturday, Hamzah who is also PN secretary-general said PBS leaders came to see him a few months ago.
“They told me not to allow these ‘kumpit‘ (boats used by the immigrants) people … So I told them that as long as I am Home Minister, all those without documents will be sent back to their home countries.
“I dont recognise those who want to bring the ‘kumpit‘ people into Sabah,” he said.
Zainuddin also chastised the stand taken by the Warisan-led state government under Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal pertaining to the Philippines claim on Sabah.
“They said it is better to runding (negotiate). What is there to runding? Sabah is a sovereign state of Malaysia so what is there to runding,” said Hamzah to the loud applause from the floor.
In this respect, Hamzah said a strong cooperation between State and Federal Governments was crucial towards the development of Sabah.
“This is a functional government (PN) … there is a specific cluster for each like health, security, education among others under the Premiership of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin,” he said.-BorneoGazette
